Troddle
Ever wondered how many of your local footpaths you’ve actually walked? Troddle lets you explore, tag, and track every public right of way near you — all displayed on an interactive map.
- Explore your local paths: Troddle maps every public right of way in England and Wales. Zoom into your local area and instantly see a network of paths you never knew existed.
- Tag paths as you walk: Every time you complete a path, mark it as walked. Watch your local network fill up as you build a personal record of every route you’ve ever taken. Tag paths as fully walked, or flag them as blocked if you couldn’t get through.
- Track your progress: See your personal statistics — how many paths you’ve walked, how many kilometres you’ve covered, and how you’re progressing through your county and beyond. Compare your local area against the full national picture.
- Community trail conditions: Leave ratings and real-world tags for paths you’ve walked and benefit from the experience of other walkers. Know what to expect before you set off.
- Sync across devices: Sign in with your email or Google account and your walked paths sync automatically to the cloud. Switch phones, reinstall the app — your history is always safe and restored instantly.
Troddle is completely free to try for 30 days. After that, upgrade to Troddle Unlimited to keep tagging paths and tracking your progress.
Public rights of way data covers England and Wales. In addition OpenStreetMap data optionally provides unofficial footpath data to show on the map and be tagged in the same way. This extends footpath coverage to Scotland, Northern Ireland and Ireland.
Privacy Policy
Last Updated: July 21, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Moodstone (“we”, “our”, or “us”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Troddle mobile application (“the App”).
1. Information We Collect
We collect only the minimum data required to provide and improve the Troddle app:
- Contact Information (Email Address): Collected when you register or sign in using Firebase Authentication or Google Sign-In to manage your user account and sync your data.
- Precise Location Data: Used locally on your device to display your current position on the map, center footpaths near you, and allow you to record walked routes. Your real-time location is processed on-device and is not linked to your user identity or tracked across third-party apps.
- User Content (Path Tags & Ratings): Collected when you mark paths as walked, flag blocked paths, or leave trail ratings. This content is linked to your user account to sync your progress across devices.
- User Identifiers: A unique User ID (Firebase Auth UID) assigned to your account to associate your saved walked paths and subscription status.
- App Usage & Product Interaction: Anonymous analytics collected via Firebase Analytics and RevenueCat (such as screen views and subscription status) to improve app performance and stability.
2. How We Use Your Information
The data collected is used solely for the following purposes:
- To provide, maintain, and personalize the Troddle mapping and path tracking service.
- To sync your walked paths, custom tags, and account settings across your devices.
- To manage your Troddle Unlimited subscription via RevenueCat and the Apple / Google App Stores.
- To monitor anonymous app performance metrics and diagnose crash reports.
3. Data Sharing & Privacy Guarantee
We do not sell, trade, or rent any of your personal information to third parties, advertisers, or data brokers. We do not track you across third-party apps or websites. Your data is only shared with essential infrastructure providers (Google Firebase and RevenueCat) strictly for account sync, analytics, crash reporting, and purchase management.
4. Security & Encryption
All data transmitted between the Troddle application and our backend servers is encrypted in transit using industry-standard TLS/HTTPS protocols. User content and account data are stored securely in Google Cloud / Firebase Firestore infrastructure.
5. Data Control & Account Deletion
You have full control over your personal data:
- In-App Deletion: You can delete your account and associated data at any time inside the app by navigating to Settings → Account → Delete Account.
- Web Deletion Form: If you no longer have access to the app, you can request full account deletion via our online request page: Account Deletion Request Form.
6. Children’s Privacy
The App does not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under the age of 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we immediately delete this from our servers.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last Updated” date.
