Privacy Policy

WeightStone is a simple app designed to help users track their weight securely on their iOS device. It allows users to view their last weight entry and add additional entries in Stones, Pounds, or Kilograms, as well as calculate their Body Mass Index (BMI).

This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data when you use WeightStone.

1. Data Storage and Apple Health

All of your personal health data, including weight and height entries, is stored securely and exclusively in the Apple Health repository (HealthKit) on your device.

  • WeightStone does not store any personal health data on our own servers.
  • WeightStone does not transmit your personal health data to the cloud, except via Apple’s secure, built-in iCloud synchronization for HealthKit.
  • To calculate your BMI, WeightStone requests read-only access to your Height data from Apple Health.
  • To log your weight, WeightStone requests write access to your Body Mass data in Apple Health.

2. Advertising and Google AdMob

We use Google AdMob to serve advertisements within the app to support ongoing development.

  • AdMob may track certain aspects of user behavior to offer targeted ads, monitor app performance, and prevent fraud.
  • AdMob may use your IP address for measurement and personalization solutions.
  • WeightStone utilizes Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) SDK to ensure we obtain legally valid consent (such as GDPR consent) from users in the UK, European Economic Area (EEA), and Switzerland before serving personalized ads.
  • WeightStone does NOT request “Permission to Track” via App Tracking Transparency (ATT), which limits how AdMob can track you across different third-party websites and apps.

3. Analytics

We use Firebase Analytics (provided by Google) to collect anonymous, aggregated crash reports and usage statistics to help us improve the app’s stability and performance. No personal health data is ever sent to Firebase.

4. Local App Data

WeightStone uses local, on-device storage to save your app preferences, such as your target weight goal, notification settings, and whether you prefer to see updates in stones, pounds, or kilograms. This data never leaves your device.
